My son is going to be graduating with his PhD in a short while and I'd like to get him something nice as a gift. He loves big knives like the Randall Fighting Stiletto design. But he's mentioned that he's not a Randall fan. So I'm looking for a high end knife maker who has something similar. Ideally a long double blade, 8", made of a good quality steel.

Do a search for Randall Model 2 replicas. I believe Cold Steel and Blackjack both made replicas. KnifeCenter might be a source.

Check out some of the custom knife makers in the Exchange here. Go back 10-15 pages... Find one you like and have them make you a true custom to your specs.

GLDrew
Dan Graves
Daado
Phillip Patton
Jack Oneill
TK Steingass
Robert Erikson
Carl Colson
... are a few makers on here that make beautiful and highly functional knives. It's by no means exhaustive. I've got an O'Neill blade that I use and love and a Carl Colson safe queen. Also have a damascus scalpel from Phillip Patton which is really cool. Some of these guys make museum quality knives. Let us know what you decide!

Just saw this one. Looks spectacular.

I hear ya... it's pretty ornate. Not a user, but I'm sure it's quite capable!

Keeping my eyes peeled...
Thank you! That is a great looking knife and the $800-1k price point is right about where I'm looking as well. I'm not sure if it's exactly what I'm looking for, but it's pretty close.

Too bad he's not a fan of RandallMade
