Something similar to Spec Ops survival sheath?

Hello, I have a Ranger RD6 knife (6"+ blade, 1.5" wide, 1/4" thick) and it is a beast of a knife. I'm looking to get a new survival-style nylon/cordura sheath for it. The kind that have a front accessory pouch, etc. However, Spec Ops sheaths are more then I'm looking to spend. I've checked out the BlackHawk style sheaths, but do not think they will fit my knife.

Any recommendations for something similar to this?

If you've still got the Ranger sheath, you could add a pouch to the front of it. See the Wilderness & Survival Skills forum here for lots of ideas.

Isn't that a $150 knife? I wouldn't think twice of buying a $50 sheath for it...I have a Spec Ops sheath and it's worth every penny.....I certainly would not consider a $10 sheath for it. Just my 2 cint.

Whats the difference how much it costs as long as it holds the knife? Yea it may not last forever but at least you will get your moneys worth. I have seen people carry $150 knives in sheaths made of cardboard and duct tape.

What's the difference between a Spec Ops sheath and one made of cardboard and duct tape you ask??? Hmmmm...I'll have to get back to you on this one....:jerkit:

You could also call Justin at Ranger and see if he's got a replacement sheath in stock. (Or try Ontario, since they're making them now.)

I understand that the spec ops sheath probably uses better materials and might be a little more confortable to wear but the op is looking for a lower priced solution. unless I was in the military or was using my sheath in some sort of hard use environment I cant justify spending that much on a sheath when mine works just fine. I would rather spend the difference on more knives. Just my opinion.

send me an email i have a spec ops in coyote i would sell you. it is new w/ tags still on it.

More like an $80 knife.

Ranger and Ontario both use similar sheaths that would meet your requirements. Scrapyard knifeworks does as well. They can be had for less than $20 and will fit your knife without modification. The Blackhawks are nice, but even if you alter the liner, the nylon sheath itself will not be wide enough for an RD pattern.

I bought one of these for my son of dogfather.

The plastic liner inside was too small to fit the knife so i pulled it out and made a thinner one out of the cover from a 5 star notebook( ghetto, I know.) For 10 bucks its not a bad sheath.

That one looks pretty good, but I'm not sure about the straps. Does it have a regular retention strap along with a security strap? I really don't like the turning catch fastener.
