Just got these two in ivory micarta, mammoth tooth for my son and bloody basin for my daughter, who are 1 and 3. The idea is give it to them as first fixed blades when they grow old enough. It won't probably be their first knives as these are razor sharp and I think small, dull SAK would be a safer choice to learn the very basics. What do you think?

VERY nice! Those are a few that anybody would be proud to have.
As far as your second comment... I think that, yes, a SAK would make a safer "first knife" perhaps, and be a good teaching tool... but it should still be sharp! When I was a scout, as a kid, the importance of a sharp blade was *always* emphasized. A sharp knife is safer than a dull one, and IMO it's a good idea to instill the proper level of respect for the tool as soon as you put one in their hand. Sure, there will be cuts and nicks and scrapes, but that happens to EVERYone who uses a knife, eventually; it's part of learning, in a way, and if you teach them well the injuries should be minor.
Two thumbs up to you, sir!

Another vote for sharp knives for beginners.

But I think a small fixed blade would be better for a beginners knife than a slip joint. The two Bark River knives looks like just the ticket.
