Today is a triumphant day for me. After gaining interest in all things knives a few years back, I have always lusted after Randall Made Knives one design in particular always caught my attention and served as the mental picture I had when thinking of "the classic knife" as well as my ideal outdoors knife. Thanks to a fantastic local dealer I am the proud owner of a Model-25 with stag handles, a brass hilt and tool steel.

Contratulations!

Sunningly gorgeous addition to your family.

Envy grows in the pit of my soul!

That's a beauty, Mr. Johnson. I like the white stag with the stacked leather. Very classy knife!

Looks good! I think that handle looks fantastic. I've got a 26 with the 25 handle on order to be delivered in roughly 2 years.

BTW, what other knives are available with the 25 handle?

These, along with the #25 miniature, and the #12-9 Sportsman's Bowie w/the standard blade grind...

Thank you gentleman.
Awesome collection M.P. I looked through the picture thread and you've had some amazing pieces.

Quick question though, how do you guys care for/protect your tool steel blades when storing for long periods. Right now I have a thin coating of frog lube on mine.

I bought some early 1970's vintage Randall knives from a collector a few years ago; knives that looked brand new. I asked how he'd kept them that way and he replied that he had coated them with Turtle Wax (car wax) when new and had put them away in that condition, wiping them off just prior to the show where I purchased them...

I haven't tried that method myself, preferring Renaissance Wax instead...

I've actually heard of turtle wax on Emerson's. May have to give it a try. What's been your experience with Renaissance wax?

For many years I've had good results using Renaissance wax on all my Randalls. I tend to use Simichrome to clean blades, as well as to polish both brass and nickel-silver hilts. After that, I apply the wax. I also use Ren wax on leather handles (instead of shoe polish). As for both stag and ivory handles, I apply mineral oil, let it stand overnight, wipe it off, then apply Ren wax.

So I tried some turtle wax since I wasn't able to find ren wax. At first I applied it with a q-tip but it was far too much wax, I then cleaned it off and proceeded to use the recommended method of a damp towel and a buffing motion to apply and am left with a thin coat on the blade and hilt.

My question if do I leave it like this until I am ready to use it or do I wipe it after its sat over night?
