I have 2 game wardens , one is a fatty the other regular I was putting them together to compare thickness and then it happened, the 2007 special edition fatty stuck to the other magnetically, I check it with a few other busses and it seems to be the only one with this ability, any one with a clue here ?

The magnetic abilities are well documented. I had a Batac and sjtac that stuck together as well.

Ah ok it got me wondering if I purchased a busse imposter, I only buy busse's that have the busse combat logo on them, I know there are real ones with out it, but unless I'm buying from this forum or busse directly I steer clear of them

Come on guys, all steel (because by definition it contains iron) can be magnetized. Almost certainly it was stored next to a magnet at some point in its life. aaaa_cccc is correct if you attach a strong magnet to a Busse or any other iron, nickel, cobalt (and most of their alloys) item, it can be made at least temporarily magnetic.

Well for sure it's no where near a magnet now, il check it again in a week to see if it is still magnetic

grinding can make them magnetic and everyone knows INFI attracts Booze

BINGO!!!! Grinding will certainly cause this effect...I have a Demagnitizer to ensure that the blades I make are not sitting around attracting fine particles on the finished surface.
Does not take much to scratch the finish especially when you know its done and time for the Booze....:D

Well I did recently buy the fatty and I know my friend had it in a safe , maybe it got magnetized in there , I highly doubt busse forgot to demagnetize it. Only time will tell

What Demonic1 said:thumbup:!!! I have a Satin HOGFSH that a starrett 12" metal rule will stick to it and that's holding the knife so that the rule is on the bottom side. Have had several over the years that way...

Carbon which is in All Steel to some extent (yes even the stain resistant ones) when machined or even rubbed up against a magnet will
gain some of that magnetic attraction....ever rub a magnet against a screwdriver to help hold that tiny screw that fingers could not hold...

Carbon is not magnetic, it is the iron in steel that (and screwdriver) that can be magnetized.

Where is Old Physics when we need him.

The question pops up every once in a while.

It happens. No worries, use it in good health.

Happens to me almost every time i sharpen on a belt grinder.

You're absolutely correct....I was thinking "High Carbon" steels hence the Carbon..it is indeed the iron content...Thanx...
