To Jeff and all you RAT PACK members,

Mine and Low96hb's boys have decided that their first knives are ESEE 3s. My boy took about three days to decide between an ESEE 3 PMMB and a TOPS Tom Brown Scout. The ESEE 3 came out the winner.

I will post some pics of the boys getting their knives and unpacking them. Also, I'll post up some pics of them using the knives while getting their whittling chips at scouts. Might even have some pics from a camp or two. I think my biggest obstacle will be convincing Low to let his boy scuff up the blade coating, LOL!

I'm proud of their choice. I know those knives will last them a long, long time.

Hey, Jeff, how can I acquire a pair of orange micarta scales for my boy's knife? I hate the thought of him losing it in the leaves.

Why not just get the OD/Orange (G10 - not micarta) model?
Conversely, it will up the price quite a bit, but you can get aftermarket orange G10 scales from TKC.

eta: or at the very least make a Safety Orange lanyard :)

The orange/od green model does not come in the rounded pommel version, and it does not come with the jump proof sheath system.

But, yeah, probably will put an orange lanyard on it, for sure.

Yes it does. ESEE-3PM-OD-MB

Molle back, modified pommel. We sell it that way.

Right her'.

My first infraction. I was attempting to show that the variation of knife existed, not deal spot or tell him where to buy. Sigh.

We can do without the eBay links.

Good to see some troops don't flip out at the sight of a fixed blade. Excellent selection of knives.

orange paracord lanyard will be the easiest way to gain viability. The scales from TKC would be the second. The third is to either find someone to trade, or buying an orange/OD blade and swapping. The stock ones aren't sold

Tony,
Yeah, they will be using the paint off those knives!

Diz,
Helps that I'm their unit leader and love fixed blades. I hate folders and don't trust them. They just scream, "I want to fail you and cut your knuckles real bad!," at me. No folders for my boy. Looks like he'll be a member of the RAT PACK before long.

Say, RATs, what is the youngest aged pack member you've had? LOL

You could use tangering rit dye for the handles I seen on this forum someone did that to their hest & it came out really nice & they used the orange paracord as well.

They are sold that way. I've seen them on TKC, and I'm sure other dealers carry that particular combo as well.

CM_Rick, congrats to you & Low96hb not only for getting your own children involved with the outdoors, but for taking the time to help others get off the couch and outside as well. Not enough of this type of involvement in this day and age. Great choices on the knives, something that they can use & keep with them for their coming years. Good job.
Be safe.

I've got that Scout too, it's a great little belt knife. In time, knives of all shapes and sizes end up in the stash!
