Im sure many of us own or are considering owning titanium frame locks. Wear is a common concern with titanium frame locks and you often hear stories of knives that develop vertical play, lock bars wearing out etc. While I always take any unverified claims on the internet with a grain of salt there just might be a reason for some of the issues people have and I suspect it has something to do with the way some of us close a frame lock. I have a titanium folder that I got a few months back and as of a few weeks ago it was a safe queen. The first few days I used it I noticed that when I closed the blade I would prematurely start to push the blade close before the lock bar had been fully disengaged. This caused the edge of the tang to push the fraction of a mm of lock bar still in its path out of the way. over time through numerous cycles of opening and closing this could cause the lock bar to wear unevenly and create lockup issues. It probably isn't the root cause of locks wearing out but if corrected it might save some trouble in the long run.
