Does anyone other than me find it strange that although every Busse is designed to take more abuse than most people can physically put out; when selling or trading most of us wrap each blade up with so much padding and protection that you could probably drop it out a 30 story building, run over it with a semi, have it fall down a set of stairs and then do it all over again and still not have a scratch?

Trust me I do the same thing and don't mind when blades come to me this wasy but it just seems strange. Guess we just want to be the ones to scratch it up and subject them to our own special abuse huh?

I just think it's funny that Busse's are the hardest use knives and bought so often just to look pretty. :D

Given that these are pointy things with incredibly sharp business ends, proper packaging ensures that it stays inside the shipping box.

I once received a knife whose blade was sticking a fraction of an inch through the shipping box. This one:

It's a Randall Made Knife, specifically the Tom Clinton Special. One side of the shipping box had a dozen puncture holes. The moron who shipped it had it fairly loose in the shipping box, with nothing to protect the tip.

Luckily, the tip had no damage, and no one handling the package was injured by the protruding tip.

Hey, what can we do, they got us, were screwed...since Busse just happens to make the Toughest and Best looking fixed blades....the'll never let us break form our addiction if they keep that up:grumpy:

:p

Secure packing = No knife breaking through the side of the box stabbing a mailman. . .

To each his own, I don't have safe queens but I could care less what other people do with their knives.

:eek:I wrap up nuke tight!!! My last package had padding, a double box covered in duct tape and then brown paper wrapped in packing tape!!! It was an LE though. :D

yeah, i've also received a knife that had lost the packaging on the the tip and punctured the box. there was some slight rolling of the edge at the tip.

LMAO!!:D:D
your talking about the one I just sent you?!
I am recycling the padding I mold kydex with...

I just about fell out of my chair after I saw this. I never knew this knife existed until you posted it.
Tom was the HOG of HOGs and may he rest in peace.
Congrats on a beautiful piece Lunde.

Oh yeah! I've wrapped in bubble wrap, packing paper, popcorn and news paper but never in foam... I like it...I like it a lot.

I don't pack as well as most sellers. I'll use bubble or some sort of non-paper wrap if I've got some. Most times it's packing peanuts or newspaper. A couple of sheets of newspaper covering the blade and cardboard sheath. Secured in teh box with enough packing material to keep it from bouncing around. Pretty much like the shop and Skunk packs em.

Then I insure the snot outta em. Just to be safe. LOL

I pack mine as securely as possible. As one said Busse knives can take anything but if someone is buying an unused Busse from me, I want to do my part and make sure it arrives in that condition. For Tips I've always taken wine corks cut off about 0.5" to use for a tip guard. Works great, once its wrapped in bubble wrap nothing is budging that cork off the tip.

I wrap mine with just a little extra padding when I ship :o

I first wrap the blade and knife, then stuff the box so that it does not flop around. Kind of how they do it at the Busse Shop.

Actually, I wrap the knife in paper, then a foam sheet...
Place an address label on it (both return & to addresses),
then shrink wrap it.

Then it goes in the box with padding (paper, peanuts, whatever)
so there is no movement in the box when closed.

I even put clear packing tape over the address lable on the box. :o
Wouldn't want rain or something making it illegible. ;)

I do this for most of the ones I send out...
If I'm in a real rush, I skip inside label & shrink wrap. :o

Awesome pic Ken.

I use to have almost as many Randalls as I have Busse's now and actually dealt with Tom on a couple of occassions.

He is Real Gentleman. Top Notch.....I can't believe he's no longer with us.

At least I hope not.:(

gonna make a call....
