Something you guys might like!

I'll have to check this out later tonight. I'm not familiar with that knife brand or youtube channel. I like new stuff!

Why is he posting on a Survive! thread? Kizer is Chinese crap, regardless of how good the salesman might be.

That's an interesting little knife there and I like the utilitarian blade shape. I'm all about functional, non tactical looking stuff and this one is cool. The pivot screws are my only real issue because that just equals having an extra tool around to adjust stuff.

The blade shape is similar plus there's word of a Survive! folder possibility in the future. A bunch of us have thrown around ideas of what it could look like so this is just a teaser so to speak.

just because it is made in china does not mean its crap. its a damn fine knife brand who makes very high quality blades.

Then I expect you to buy one and give us a fine review then. And while you're at it, you might ask Guy and all the USA made knife makers how they view Chinese made knives.

Or try judging a knife on its merits rather than where it was produced.

I previously posted this, but will again as it is pertinent to this discussion: my first thought regarding a Survive! folder is something like the CS 'Ultimate Hunter':

30ulh.jpg

American design - solid, reliable, still an efficient cutter, strongest lock on the market
American materials - CTS-XHP at higher Rockwell than commonly seen on production folders
BUT, and it's important in Survive!, the 'Ultimate Hunter' is still made in Taiwan. It does not matter that the quality is excellent for the price, I applaud the OEM for their dedication. The Kizer knife may be of excellent manufacture. It could be a Mcusta or Moki or Lionsteel or (insert excellent foreign manufacturer), doesn't matter. S!K is aiming to be USA-made, not just "designed and assembled". *shrug*

BUT the CS and the Kizer do give ideas for consideration of what the S!K folder might look like.
That said, I don't know about all of you, but I think the Neckers look totally different from Guy's larger knife designs, and the folder may come in a similar vein - something completely different than we expect. Guy does not have tunnel-vision.

So it seems you must own at least ONE made in China knife and are very enthusiastic about it?

I have owned Chinese made knives before and they were awesome.
I'm pretty F'ing positive that Bravoniner was only showing this knife to us because it looks similar in shape to a Survive Knife.
Coming in here and pissing on someone's findings is pretty messed up.

I take it you only buy electronics made in America as well? I just purchased the kizer ki403 and I'll let you know when I get it the quality. Rudeness is not necessary by the way.
I'm pretty sure this is the same Bravoniner from the ESEE forum that I've talked with about Survive Knives with. Maybe he's just new here.
Yeah it's me. Not as active here since I never really had anything I felt was worthwhile other than "yep, there awesome". I love my 4.1 and assumed that some would like this folder because of the grind lines and blade shape. Probably not gonna post again though because of the backlash.

Ha! The escalation was quick ;)

The OP had given some useful input to a S! folder thread back in August. If he's a fan of SURVIVE! and folders, I'm all for it and he's in the right place! I think there is a strong enough connection with the post and the knife to this forum if I'm reading the intent clearly.

Kizer, the brand in the link, is a Chinese company. I don't know much specifically about them or global economy, but I feel way better about a Chinese company making Chinese products in China than an American based company using foreign labor to pump out cheap products.

Chiral, good point in that we do this know what to expect from Guy. I'm not all that creative, so my mind was stuck thinking how the ESEE guys were petitioning for an Izula folder, a folding version of an existing fixed blade. Ever hear of Steelwill? They are a new company that has some nice designs. They have a 4" bladed fixed model with a nearly identical folding version.

Please do a little research before you become too bigoted. They have recently done a lot of collaborations with several custom knife makers from the US.

The reviewer was pretty thorough and gave a good bit of background on the knife, designer and company. Also, going just off the price of this knife, it is not the stereotypical gas station pocket knife. Good materials as well.

Stick around, man, we like you

Don't let this little hiccup keep you from here. The majority of people on here are awesome but there are a few that pop in here and decide to thump their chest. I'm Bryan78 over on the ESEE forum. I just keep my "assholeness" to a minimum over here because it's rarely needed.
