So,

I have been (very) happily EDC-ing my small 21 Insingo since Christmas. The small Insingo is really all a pocket needs. Much like my buddy Harris http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1251392-This-Year-I-Made-A-Pact-With-Myself-Regarding-Knives, I had made a pact with myself to be satisfied with the CRK knives I am fortunate to already have (not as many as some, but a wealth of fine tools for lifetime), and give the collecting a rest in 2015 while other life priorities see some cashflow!

Well.........the best laid plans...........:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I made the mistake of browsing one of my favourite online sellers (just to look....not buy ::o) and there it was. Not a grail, but a "get this now or you will never have another chance" type of situation. A brand new-in-box Ti-Lock, 1st edition model in factory bead-blast, straight from an authorized CRK dealer. This is the same dealer who magically produced a old-nail-nick Tamboti Mnandi BNIB a month so ago that was snapped up by one of our members. I guess he's going through all those old dusty boxes in the corner and finding some real gems! Anyways....I have always been on the fence about the Ti-Lock, but the bead-blast was the kicker. I have wanted to put one of these knives to use, but felt I might miss out on the "worn-in" look I like so much in CRK. Anyways..........next thing you know there is one in the mail! The trigger pulled itself this time.

I will see what I do with this knife it when it arrives. I have never seen a photo of a truly worn-in Ti-Lock, so maybe that will be the next path I travel. Depends what I think of it at first I suppose, but I look forward to getting to know this blade. Looks like I have some company on the forum as well, with a few out there picking up the same blade.

Anyways..........Lord grant me strength.......sheesh!

Your Welcome Brother, I had it in my "cart" and backed out. The blasted Ti-Lock was was only available on the first 50 or so made. Great Catch and glad you were able to snag it. Great Dealer as well.

Thanks so much! My favourite dealer by far to browse. Great photography and taste in blades.

Haha! Cody, I know how you're feeling. I've kept my pact so far but holding out till June is going to be tough. Even though I carry the same DT Sebenza most days, while alternating to the Insingo every few days, I just loved handling Chris Reeve Knives and exploring the different configurations. I've passed up many a good deal here on BF and some other places, trying to keep my priorities straight. In doing so I feel I've grown to appreciate my now only two Sebenzas even more so than before.

I had a feeling that sooner or later you would zero in on the Ti-Lock. It's a unique knife and not frequently discussed here on the sub, save for a few threads here and there. You seem like the type who appreciates something different every so often, as well as the more popular models. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on a very cool new addition to your collection!

Enjoy in the best of health my friend, and congrats. After all other expenses are taken care of this year I hope to share a very special new CRK and time piece with you come this summer, to reward myself for taking care of the numerous expenses and positives changes 2015 has brought me. Don't feel too bad about deviating from the plan by the way. Had I seen that particular knife being offered, I'm not sure I would've been able to hold true to my pact!!

I had a Ti-Lock when they first came out. I really liked it, but would much prefer a blasted one over the stonewashed one which I felt was slippery in hand. It has lots of blade for its handle size and is a nice drop point style. One handed opening/closing is easily done with practice.
PLEASE post pics when you get it. I know I will look forward to seeing it.....!!! Enjoy

Thanks Harris,

I'll be sure to give everyone a run-down if I decide to pocket the blade. The only ghost in my closet now is Damascus. I am waiting for a good excuse to go down that road, but so far have not. Will be excited to see what you reward yourself with!

For sure I will!

Cody, really????, you just need to send me the knife and you can save face :)
I was wondering what happened to that knife, you beat me to it.
Enjoy it and give us a review. Gull Wing has me convinced to get one, I just need to wait until another blasted one shows up.

Cody .... congrats. But ....dang .... I could have saved you the agony of breaking your self-made promise. I knew about this one late last year and have been mentioning it to people I thought might be interested in a first run Ti-Lock. Travis told me about it right after I bought that Tamboti. Didn't post about it in the forums, as deal spotting is frowned upon. He refrained from actually listing it until just recently. Anyway, glad he still had it and glad it worked out for you!

Will be a cool one! Glad you got it because i was FORCING myself to not get it! Youll like it, its a CRK! Carry it and post some "worn" shots! Such an awesome design..

Please give us some pics. I did not know there were some bead blast ones. I think that snatch does not count towards your pack or promise to yourself :)

For whatever reason the majority of the chinese fakes are bead-blast, so you have to watch it when you come across a bead-blast Ti-Lock. They fakes are really close to the real thing, at least in appearance, so be wary. I only bought this bead-blast Ti Lock as I trust the dealer.

Part of me regrets in some way not getting the stone-washed Ti-Lock as that finish is beautiful and unique to that model, and clearly is CRKs preference with what they put out there, and maybe matches the idea of the knife better. The bead blast on the one I ordered made the knife "special" enough that I could justify picking it up I suppose.

Should be in hand in a couple days!

Follow up!!!!
Need to see pics and first impressions of the knife, that would be your first in hand feel.

I promise an update fellas. I have the knife, and it is very cool. I want to carry it for a little bit, and develop some honest opinions before I blab on about it. I am not disappointed.
