Sometimes being known as a "knife guy", isn't a bad thing...

Well, today started out as a normal day, but quickly turned to a brighter one. A Co-worker brought a knife in for me as a gift that he thought I would enjoy. I must say that I was not expecting this gem to land in my lap.
Ka-Bar USN Mark 2 (round tang pin, dated to a ballpark of 1944, though I would love an accurate timeframe).

Snapped tip, but Little wear on the blade, not over sharpened, no chips or dings in the edge. Just some blunting/rounding which will be fixed, along with the handle that will be repaired. Also, It is missing it's sheath, but those are sourced easily enough.

Guess I have another project on my plate now. The Misses says that most people bring home stray dogs or cats that need help, and I manage to bring home knives that do... Guess the upside is that the knives don't need food.

Hope everyone is having a great day. If you were gifted a knife from a co-worker (be it a gem or not-so-much), let's see them!

What a great Kabar! Congrats!
That is an obscure request, but I do have one that a co-worker brought me one day!

Fantastic knife. I have always loved the Demo knives. I bought one at a second hand store, and once I recognized that the date on it was the year my brother was born, I gifted it to him.

My grandfather is known as the "knife guy" at a lot of social clubs he is a member of. He is always bringing home something new and unique.

I have a coworker that knows my love for cutlery. A few years back, his father was in the hospital, and wanted to have his knife with him, but they couldn't find it anywhere. It was a yellow shell handle Imperial 2 blade jack. I had an exact replacement, although in better shape with fuller blades, and gave it to him. He said his father was tickled over it. Eventually he got out of the hospital, and one day they found the original lost knife, and decided to give it to me. Here's a picture of it...

Unfortunately, about a year ago, his father got sick again and passed away. I gifted the knife back to my coworker, as I knew it would mean a heck of a lot more to him than it ever would to me.

Incredible story, and considering the emotion added to it by your gift and regift, I am sure that your co-worker will treasure the knife.

That’s a nice old KaBar. (I happen to live within eyesight of the current factory :) )

Be sure to post up pics once it’s rehabbed!

Cool stories, folks! :cool::cool:

The guy whose office is next to mine gave me this Sabre Daddy Barlow that he found while cleaning out his father-in-law's garage after FIL passed away. I need to spend some time trying to clean it up a bit.

I’ve never gotten a knife from a colleague, but two from students (the cases):
