I'm sure I don't have to tell most of you that the most rewarding part of the 'Traditional Forum" are the friendships.
I've been very fortunate to have made many good friends on this site amongst whom are Gus K. and my partners in RPBM crime, Fewpop, Robuck & Thomason. (Definitely not "Esquires".
)
From time to time one or the other of us will take a notion to send something to one or more of the others just because. It may be a knife, a mug, a walking stick, a baseball cap, but all, no matter what they may be, are imbued with great personal significance.
Just the other day my pal Rob Thomason happened to casually mention at the end of an email that I should keep an eye on my mailbox in a day or two.
He didn't mention what would be enroute and I didn't give it much thought at the time.
Then, while driving home yesterday from the post office I happened to have one of those moments where everything becomes clear and the veil is pierced. "Aha", I thought. "He's sending me a "Peanut!"
Well, I wrote Rob and told him that he didn't need to spill the legumes (as it were), but I was going on record with my prediction of a Peanut. Further, I told young Robuck that not only did I predict a Peanut, but one of the highest order with certain characteristics. (Not because I was deserving, but because I know Rob's nature.)
So, today I find a parcel in the mailbox as expected and upon opening it at home I find the following missive:
E,
1989 Case 5120D, Stag and Damascus Peanut.
I know this is a single blade Peanut but since you are a Peanut Rookie I didn't want to overwhelm you with the standard two blade model until you get a little more Peanut experience.
Enjoy it my friend,
Rob
And so, as I sit here humbled by this gracious gift from a very valued friend, I reflect upon one of the happiest notions a man can hope for...
...if you're going to lose your (Peanut) virginity, you might as well lose it to the prettiest gal at the party!
:thumbup:
Thank you, Rob for this gracious gift. And thank you to all the other friends (both named and unnamed) who are such an important part of my every day.
