Congrats RAT Cutlery, you have gained another customer. Got my RC-4 today and I'm already thinking about getting the RC-5/6 (and maybe another Izula). Very nice knife with excellent fit and finish, now I need to go cut some things with it.

You can add me to your customer base as well. I don't currently own a RAT knife yet, but have already informed the wife that an Izula and an RC 3 are what she and the rest of the family are getting me for my birthday. Makes shopping easier for them and more satisfying for me.

I've been very impressed with the research I've done on RAT and their products. Everything indicates that not only do you talk the talk, you walk the walk.

Now, about that RAT folder......;)

Gained another customer here. I was at a gun & knife show in Chantilly, VA a few weeks ago and happened across a RC-3. I was looking for a smaller fixed blade that would do well in a field setting, but still be somewhat unobtrusive for EDC - so it immediately caught my eye. I snatched it up and it has been in my EDC pack every day since.

I liked it so much that I ordered an Izula as well - that came in the mail two days ago and hasn't left my person.

Great blades - I'll be back.

Haha well I guess i'll join in as well. You guys have another loyal customer! I bought an rc-5 the other day and it was the most amazing knife I have ever seen. I had to get me an rc-4 and now I'm hooked. With RAT cutlery's great customer service, amazing track record, and no B.S. advertising, it has forced me to trade all my other knives and become solely a RAT customer. Thanks RAT cutlery for making amazing knives!

Thanks for the invite.

Looking forward to future (and current) products from RC.

I'd just like to add that the RC-4 is a fine piece of cutlery. Cut down a few limbs with it and it's still got it's hair popping edge. Very impressed.

But as I was cutting away I could not help but wonder how great the RC-6 would be at this.

I'm a big fan of the RC-3. In fact, I was out for a quickee hike tonight and it was what I grabbed to take along. Before you get the idea I'm another one of the R.A.T. pack (not that there's anything wrong with that), I'm not, but there's something about the RC-3 that just begs to come along.

Things I don't like: handle too short, don't like coatings.
Solution: I'm getting used to the handle, but I would still like to see it an inch longer. I removed the coating - cuts much nicer now.

Things I (really) like: feels great in the hand (except for the length)
- the sheath - I love the sheath that comes with the RC-3.(I'm not talking about the Molle back as I have removed it, and now use it with the pocket clip).

Will I buy any more R.A.T. products? Probably, but it's dependent on cash flow :(

To sum up - a very fine product and although I don't know Jeff or Mike personally, my impression is that these guys are first class all the way!

Congrats on a job well done!

AK - I can say with confidence that you would not be disappointed with an RC-6. I got mine a couple of weeks ago and continue to be impressed with its quality, durability (several batoning trials with firewood), and appearance. It may be too large for EDC, but I'm looking forward to toten' this thing into the woods and letting it eat.

For the rest of the RAT family, now that I've got the RC-6, what are the recommendations for a smaller, utility type knife companion? Izula or RC-3? and I know 90% are going to say "both", but if you had to pick one to start with.......

Both are great!

Izula is a bit more "packable", RC-3 is more comfortable in use and a slightly better slicer due to it's thinner stock.

I've been carrying my Izula for a week or so as an EDC and it is a great little utility knife as well as a personal protection tool. I commute on the subway quite frequently and work in an office-type environment, so having a blade clipped to my belt is just too obtrusive. The Izula is perfect for that environment.

I can (and do) carry my RC-3 in my ruck or in the vehicle consolem and clip it to my belt around the house and in the field when I don't expect to be out more than a day (though I am confident it could handle much more).

Bottom line - it depends on the environment, for me. Urban setting, I'm leaning toward the Izula; limited field, RC-3. I'll be on the hunt for a RC-4 or higher for a camp knife.
