Been a member (ghost) for about a year. Spent my time browsing through the classifieds on occasion. I'm not one to normally post a whole lot on forums. The more I look through bf, the more I think I can learn from the members here.
I'm from Washington State originally, but currently going to school. I'm almost finished with my bachelors degree in a farming degree. I worked on my fathers farm where we grow onions and potatoes, occasionally we grow corn and wheat. I wasted away a few years trying out several different majors. My wife and I got married, I returned home and managed a crew on the farm, but quickly decided that running equipment wasn't what I wanted to do. Now I am almost done with a degree in plant, soil, and entomological science. I have two kids now, a boy and a girl, my family is what keeps me going. I cannot wait for the day I graduate and can return home and prescribe measures to best care for my fields.
As far as knives go, I have always carried a knife with me wherever I went. Made it clear to airport security a few times, all have been pleasant. Simple knives have been where I spend my time. I personally like the way CRKT knives feel and have several that I switch between. My dad is more of a knife nut. He has plenty spiderco and cold steel knives, most recently he gave me a cold steel espada series knife that has been a great introduction to folding knives. I also enjoy cooking, and have invested in a good kitchen set. I want to get into sharpening my own knives, and have grown fond of the edge pro systems. I just need to buy one now.
I am always open to advice on knives, I know next to nothing about knives. I need to keep learning something after I graduate and am hoping knives can help. Feels a little weird for me to introduce myself like this. If you have questions shoot away. I'm off to class.

Chanch, welcome to the forums. I love Spyderco, Benchmade, and traditional such as Case, Schatt/Morgan, and Northwoods. You are in the right place. This site is a wealth of information. Paper wheels is a great sharpening system when you don't have time. I.E. Raising kids. I prefer doing it by hand, even if it may get sloppy at first. Glad the next generation is on board.!

Welcome man I'm a younger guy myself and also fairly new to the forum, but as far as knives go you can never know it all, there's always something to learn and always experiences to share. If your looking at getting something affordable but still higher end Benchmade has an amazing selection of top notch pieces of equipment. Cold Steel is another great company, with awesome products. If you still haven't developed a distinct taste I would highly recommend checking out some manufacturer sites and some custom knife makers sites as well just to familiarize yourself with what's out there. Good to have you here.
