Saw this today:

MSNBC

Glad we got 'em, but I wonder how many more are left? I guess I never suspected that so many fugitives could be unaccounted for.

Yet another reason for khukuris. :D

And Hey, Cleveland "wins" again. More were picked up in the Cleveland area than any other federal court district: 400+, including five murderers, four kidnappers, and seventeen rapists (with violence).

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong; but Cleveland does not deserve that! Until relatively recently, (within our lifetimes) Cleveland was a pretty good place, wasn't it?
What the heck has happened to poor Cleveland?

This may not be cause and effect, but:

BUSSING. In the mid-70's the USDC found that Cleveland schools were unlawfully racially segregated and ordered mass bussing. It went on until it was black kids being bussed from school A to school B -- passing black kids being bussed from school B to school A. Hundreds of millions of dollars in public jobs, bus contracts, bus maintenance contracts, bus parking contracts, etc. $16,750,000 in attorney fees to the plaintiff's lawyers and the "Office of School Monitoring" appointed by the federal judge (headed by a life-long buddy of his from Youngstown).

NATIONAL INDUSTRIAL TRENDS. At the same time, the traditional big manufacturing companies in Cleveland started going downhill fast, especially steel and auto parts.

Cleveland was the third leading Fortune 500 HQ city in 1973. By 1993, it was not in the top twenty-five.

DEMOGRAPHICS. 400,000 people left, black, white and hispanic -- those who could -- leaving those who could not. Darwin could have predicted the results. Average income, educational level, and home ownership fell and fell until Cleveland became the poorest big city in the U.S.

City revenue fell and so did city services.

CORRUPTION. The politicians concentrated (big surprise) on lining their pockets. The vicious infighting over the shrinking pot prevented any big ideas from being adopted to save jobs/population/schools/retail until the city was basically a wreck.

A $60,000,000 bond issue to repair the schools somehow disappeared. No record can be found that $1.00 was spent on repairs.

Janitors (all politically connected) were making as much as $80,000/yr. in 1985 (nice pictures of them sleeping in boiler rooms during "work hours").

A cousin of the City Council President was paid $55,000/yr in 1974-75 to "supervise" the "Construction Supervisor" who "supervised" the architect who "supervised" the General Contractor who "supervised" the subcontractors -- building a new court house. The court house came in 112% over budget.

AND NOW. Cleveland is now like an old whore with articifical "beauty spots" (new sports complexes used by the suburbanites and exurbanites) that can't hide the rot. Schools closing. Police and firefighters laid off. No downtown retail and no shopping centers. Less than 1/3 of the kids finishing Grade 12 (not necessarily passing State proficiency tests). A university study concluded that there is no present hope that the situation can be reversed.
Rioting in a Cleveland high school for the second day in a row with parents, for God's sake, arrested for participating. Six candidates for mayor, and the only one anyone thinks is worth a damn is conceded to have no chance at all (He's honest, bright, and has new ideas = "has not paid his dues'). A mad man off his meds snipes at passersby at random, then shoots two (2) responding LOE's (Thank God for vests!). When they fatally wound him, "community activists" complain about "excess use of force."

:barf: :barf: :barf: :barf: :barf: :(

Thanks, Thomas.

Add it to the list. The Other America. The lost places in our midst. The future? We can only pray NO.

Me thinks that Columbus is only a few years behind Cleveburg in these descriptions. Trust me...I commute there every working day. Very sad to see what was truly an "All-American" city 25 years ago slowly coming apart at the seams. Forced busing started the slide into mediocrity.

As to the felon roundup...what was the law enforcement community doing before the roundup? Do they wait until they have 10,000 felons running around before deciding to get tough and apprehend? Hmmm. Don't understand.

When they bought the net is specifically said, 'holds 10,000 Only'.

Yeh...I kinda guessed from some of your other replies that you were around Dayton somewhere. We ought to find an excuse to meet sometime. Maybe on our bikes with dozens of khuks. in our saddlebags. :D

We'll talk about it...my plate is full right now. Do you go to Chillicothe?

We always have a compound in the middle.

I assume you mean the Easyrider's event? Never been there, and it sounds like a blast. Beer and scantilly clad women...what's not to like? Doubt I'd fit in all that well though. BMW bike and full-face lid, etc. We'll hookup sometime and compare khuks.
