...a 9 point Whitetail buck. I had a new Buck 112 put away for the occasion that he didn't know about. When he was preparing to field dress it (also a first for him), I gave him the 112 to do the job. I usually use a 110, but I must say the 112 was equally up to the task. With some coaching he got the job done, and he has the 112 to commemorate the experience.

That is nothing but cool - congratulations to the hunter and to the hunters father! Great method of commemorating a first deer.

Good for your son!! I'll bet when he's talking to his buddies 30 years from now he will still be very detailed about the 112 and all the deer he's used it on.:thumbup:

My son always could out hunt me, but I could always out fish him. :)

Congrats to you and your son! A wonderful experience and a great knife to remember it by!

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the kind comments. Frustratingly, in the excitement I forgot to take pictures while we were in the woods yesterday. Had the camera with me, but didn't think to use it.

That was a very nice way to commemorate his first deer. That was a class act. He should cherish that 112 for years to come. Great memory.

Not enough threads like this, imo.
Congratulations to your son and kudos to you. :)

That is the best. Along with the memories of his first buck, he'll have that other Buck for a lifetime as well.

Nice work, Pop!
