Son is wanting a fixed blade karambit

Cold Steel makes a couple in that price range. There are fewer options in that particular category than most knife styles, $50 might not get you far.

Most karambits out there are poorly designed fantasy knives with sheaths that range from un-useable to dangerous. Karambits are like 'push daggers' and 'boot knives' - lots on the market, most are junk designed to look cool and nothing more. A properly designed Karambit (by someone who truly understands their use) with a functional sheath will cost quite a bit. Someone with $50 would be better spending it on several differently shaped aluminum and plastic "trainer" karambits and playing with them for a while.

My $15 aluminum trainers see far more action than any live blade ever would.

CFK cutlery knife company. I personlly dont own one but I have looked at them recently and they are reasonably priced. If anyone else has one to chime in on the brand I would like to know.

He has $50 set aside. What would you recommend?

If he could scrounge up a couple more bucks, or if daddyo can hook his son up, the Tops scorpion tail is absolutely phenominal at around 80$. theres no better karambit at that price.

I disagree.

They clearly do make a Karambit that MSRPs for around $49.99, and I found it on a popular Knife purchasing website retailing for $29.95. Cold Steel Double Agent I models 39FK AND 39FKS.

FGX Karambit MSRPS $15.99

The FGX probably isn't what they'd be looking for since it's not metal. The Double Agents are karambit-like, and may fit the bill for Daddyo16's son, but I'm not entirely confident that they'd technically be karambits.

the double agents are not a karambit. they have a finger ring, but they certainly do not handle like a karambit.

The tops scorpion tail is seriouslt the best bargain. 1095 steel with an impervious traction coating, micarta scales, stellar heat treat, kydex sheath, made in america... and the lifetime warranty!! for 85$!

As the 2 previous posters said, the Double Agent is not a karambit. You will never find a real karambit with 2 rings. It's inspired by a karambit, but it most certainly isn't one. And the FGX is an all polymer item with no edge, fine for training, but if you want a real karambit, that's not it either.

You can get this for $55. It's made in the Phillipines. I can't link to the vendor directly, but it's the Kris Cutlery Korambit 3:
