Wow. It's like someone injected steroids into the RMD Bowie, and we ended up with the BT6...

(Sorry about the crappy pics, but it IS dark outside at the moment. :p)

Yeah, the RMD feels almost like a toy in comparison. For those of us with bigger hands, this BT6 is just about perfect!!!

Looks badass! Hey, Jared how long is the blade from tip to scales? The only reason I've held off so far is because I've been assuming it's not TX legal. (Longer than 5.5")

Will, this should answer your question: (in short, no)

Just finished measuring mine:

0.214" thick blade stock
0.030" - 0.040" thick behind the edge (slightly less at the tip)
5 1/4" cutting edge
6 1/8" Handle scales to tip
5 3/4" Butt to front of scales
11 7/8" OAL
1 3/4" tall (spine to edge)
0.95" thick at the peaks of the handle scales (0.77" thick in the valleys)

ETA: Oops, forgot the weight...

16.30oz (462.3g)

ETA: For the record, the RMD Bowie is just a tiny bit over 5 1/4" tip-to-scales.

A little longer than that unfortunately. 6 1/8th.

I love the father son pic, best comparison I've seen so far I think.

That's awesome!
Are the ergonomics as comfortable as the RMD's?

For me, where the RMDs seem to disappear in my hand (not necessarily a bad thing), the BT6 is a nice handful, which I prefer. So IMO, yes, just as comfortable as the RMD handle, and actually better for me since I have larger hands.

Cool comparison picture! The BT6 is definitely a handful. Early pictures left me with the impression it was smaller even though the dimensions were right there. I have not gone down the line comparing but I can't think of too many others in this size range with this full of a grip, maybe the Ratweiler? I have big hands and love it too but I could see how some may not. Looking forward to getting it skinned and out for a walk in the woods.

Speaking of, I may need to send you a(nother) e-mail... :foot:

Damn! Well, thanks for the confirmation! Guess I'll have to stick to the RMD.

I've been looking for that RMD Variant in a more modest color. I got the most tactical variant... orange... haha

Nice comparison pics!

The 'mandu grip is about perfect for me. Yet I really like the BT6 grip as well. It certainly doesn't disappear, y any means, as I usually wear a small to medium glove. But the grip still works. Plenty of ways to hold it.

This blade does not strike me as a woods-walking knife. Unless your woods walking includes gutting medium to large sized "game."

No argument there. But it's usually where I go to try out any new blade. Even the new AA will see some woods time. That said with the big grip I'll be curious to see how it does batoning.

SpyderPhreak, you know where to find me [emoji4]

Oh yeah, no disagreement from me. I do the same thing. I just happened to have the BT6 out around that time, and noticing how it looked like that point, as has been said, would be quite the piercer. And the edge on mine is pretty wicked sharp, too. It definitely strikes me that, while I'm quite positive it will do the job, it is optimized for something else.
