Hey everyone, I just wanted to share this experience with you guys. I'm in a cafe call "Panera" and they have free wireless internet. I tried going to the Syderco Forums and a company called "SonicWALL" blocks the website. It says so because the forums where classified a "Weapons" and "Shopping". So I guess they're attempting to stop me from shopping for weapons:confused: . Anyway, I just wanted to vent my frustrations here. BTW, I requested that they change the classification to "Recreation/Hobby", and here was the message I added with it:

This is a website for responsible knife and tool enthusiasts. They do not promote the use of their tools/knives for violence. This is a place for these enthusiasts to get together and share experiences about the hobby they all relate to. Everyone here works hard to show knives in a fair light, so that they may continue to use them as they always have been… responsibly. The fear pumped into the general public by the media is what needs to be banned. A kid stabs another kid with a screwdriver and now I can't talk about knives to my friends without being a criminal?

Please look at the content discussed and you'll see there's nothing to be afraid of. All there is, is a bunch of knife geeks talking about various steels and edges and how they perform under various cutting tasks like rope, etc. Yes, we're dorks, but I'd rather be a dork than a hypocrite who's scared of a 2 inch pocket knife and then goes to the kitchen and grabs a cleaver without hesitation. Where's the logic???

Anyway,

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY EVERYONE!!!

I wonder if that is the same program used where I work. I couldn't get into Spyderco Forums, Blade Forums but the funny thing is it would let me into Knife Forums.

Sonicwall is a company that makes hardware-based firewalls and content filtering devices. These devices have pre-built categories of websites to either allow or restrict. These categories are updated frequently or use keyword matches to dynamically categorize web content.

Basically what I'm try to say is...this isn't a conspiracy against knife manufactures or enthusiasts. Someone set this firewall up and checked off some categories that made sense to them at the time (I can post a screenshot of how it looks if anyone wants to see it). It is very easy to add exceptions to these rules. Obviously this is one of the times where an exception should be made.

Keep in mind these businesses providing free Wi-Fi are doing it under their own guidelines and terms. If you don't agree with their terms, it's your choice to not use it or not.
