i got hit with the errorsafe/winsomethingpro crap trojan
cleaned it with spybot s&d and avg on safe mode, and it's still coming back
what can i use to clean this sonofabitch off once and for all?

this is getting on my nerves
it would occasionally open this popup with fraudulent advertising and it's such a pissoff

help!

try other spyware/virus eliminator programs. not every program kills everything. some work better on one thing and some on another. did yiu try MS defender?

go to tucows.... or majorgeeks and D/L other programs.

good luck......i got off the web at home entirely. i only surf at work. havn't had a problem since!

Did you turn off System Restore and reboot before you cleaned? Then clean, reboot and turn it back on.

I had a bad problem last year. I ran spybot and adaware (they're free) with no success. Then I talked to an IT guy who maintains our church LAN. At his recommendation I bought Spysweeper. It has a screen that shows you all the little programs that load at startup. With it, I was able to identify what was loading at startup and disable it. Took some work. Bloody Trojan was creating new versions of itself with new names every time I started the computer. Had to ID the base file and manually delete it. Also had to delete the program that was running in memory by using the Windows Task Mgr and looking at the processes that were running. Major hassle. A pox on the trash that create those trojan programs.

I had to feel my way through the process so I can't really give you an exact "how to", but buying Spysweeper was a definite help to me because of that screen.

Good luck with it. Been there. Done that. Didn't like it.

Hijackthis.exe will do the same thing; show the programs that are all running and allow you to disable them. PROCEED WITH CAUTION! And, it's free, too.

any help with this?
i bolded the ones i thought were suspicious

ok, ddcyw.dll is vundo, i cleaned that off
jkkheby.dll doesn't turn up any web searches, strangely enough

*edit*
sheesh
these 2 sob adware reinstalls the changes they make to the registry immediately after you do your fixes
i had to download fixes for vundo and virtumonde before i could get rid of them

I can't pick out the virus/spyware from your list, but I do see a lot of crap that doesn't need to be running constantly in the background.

CC:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgcc.exe
C:\Program Files\Logitech\QuickCam10\QuickCam10.exe
C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_10\bin\jusched.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe
C:\Program Files\K-Lite Codec Pack\QuickTime\qttask.exe
C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe
C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\MsnMsgr.Exe
C:\Program Files\Google\GoogleToolbarNotifier\1.2.1128.5462\G oogleToolbarNotifier.exe
C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgamsvr.exe
C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgupsvc.exe
C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\bin\hpotdd01.exe
C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgemc.exe
C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\bin\hposol08.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VS7DEBUG\MDM.EXE
C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wscntfy.exe
C:\Program Files\Logitech\QuickCam10\COCIManager.exe
C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\Bin\hpoSTS08.exe
C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\SpybotSD.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\weltschmerz\Desktop\HiJackThis_v2.exe

I would 'fix' each one of these so that they don't run automatically in the background. Unless you use these programs constantly, there's no reason to let to run constantly.

He does need some of those files running all the time. The C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\ files are his anti-virus protection....

Yeah I know. I have the same anti-virus program installed, AVG. But I don't leave it running all the time. I don't need it monitoring my e-mails, and I don't need it updating itself automatically.

i leave it on for the resident shield
it caught a few trojans, so im sticking with it
most of the others are applications, im fine with those, too lazy to remove ^ ^
the 2 i bolded, yes, those are the spyware calls
o2 with corresponding o20 just looked damn weird to me
after some web research, i found the tools to remove them
the problem is identifying which one you've got, they use random dlls
removal is just a matter of googling the tool

moral of the story : don't let your friends use your computer to browse warez =.=

i got hit with the errorsafe/winsomethingpro crap trojan

havent read the whole thread bút alot of crap resides in "windows registry" so you need to turn off "System restore" (which will revivie the malware at startup since its in the registry and that what it does) restart your computer then turn it on again. bye bye virus/whatever

controlpanel-system-systemrestore-deactivate systemrestore (check this box), restart. turn on again. gone. edit: yeah after you "removed" all crap with antivirus/spybot etc that is.

Start/Run type 'regedit' <no quotes> Press enter

HKEY Local Machine expand to Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run

There you will find the entry where the trojan is being loaded. Delete it and reboot.

and make sure you disable System Restore first as I mentioned in Message 3.

thanks guys, i cleared it already with system restore off
the registry edit alone doesn't cure either of the 2 trojans
they rewrite their own changes the moment you make it, making spybot helpless
that's why it kept on redetecting them
downloading vundofix and virumonbegone got rid of that
oh, and disabling system restore too

Try turning on the teatimer protection in spybot. Its a real PETA to leave on all the time, but will prevent realtime changes in teh registry without your approval.
