Soon to be maker needs forging advice

HELLO EVERYBODY! I am interested in taking up knife making. I need help choosing the supplies that i need. i.e.(tools, material, etc.) I am going to try and start with the supplies that are a must and add to what i have once i get into it. I would greatly appreciate any tips and advice yall might have on forging.

You also might think about joining the ABS and go to all functions and events. Lin
 
Take a class from the closest maker to you and pay him well it will be money well spent.

I hope we are not sounding stingy with our help. The ABS has a site complete with a forum discussing the subject in detail. Plus you can network with those who forge regularly. You can holler at me and I will do what I can to help. Lin
 
A more specific question....like how to select an anvil, tongs, etc would
likely get a flurry of info...because you're giving us a place to start.

Also DVDs like those available from the ABS, can be extreemly helpful,
especially since they can be replayed if you want to see something
again.
