Okay, I bought my Kobun a couple years ago, and have LOVED IT!!! It came with the plastic clip on the sheath (Amazon, purchased & sent). Frankly, I wasn't worried; it seemed sturdy, and was until yesterday. While trying to re-break some trails in the old quarry by my home, I heard a crack. Imagine that! While breaking a trail through the woods! Keep in mind that the Kobun was a backup to my CS Barong (texture the handle better and charge $5 more), so I didn't think about it until I got home...with one less knife. Made me sad. I loved that knife. Buy one if you can, and make sure it doesn't have the plastic clip!!!
(Duluth, MN...anyone who grew up in The Heights until the early 1990's knew The Quarry...not anymore)
P.S. I never mentioned above that I found my Kobun shortly thereafter. Kids don't hit the woods for fun anymore, so I wasn't surprised. A few spots of surface rust cleaned up quickly with a Q-Tip and some Flitz. My crutches sinking into the moist soil under my 300lb body sucked way more. Hip surgery soon, though (4th attempt)!
I still love that knife! Hey, it has developed an obvious handle vibration when you flick the blade. It's obviously loosened/stretched a bit. Anyone have suggestions how to fix this? I know it is just as functional, but I'm anal-retentive and it bugs me.!
