I've got a Randall 25 that is just itching for black powdercoat.

No, I'm not serious! LOL (But I think I bot another Randall. NOT mint so I might use it.)

Use the hell out of your Randall... I have used many of them (they were my first love, you see).

For a very, very small price you can send them back in to Randall and they will make it look like new. There is not much you can do to that knife that they cannot fix... trust me... I have seen some pretty sorry looking Randalls come back from the shop looking new.

They will not hold an edge like a busse, and have a much softer Rockwell... so... don't treat it like your Busse's.

My Randall's all hang out in the safe nowdays. Money in Randalls is better than money in the stock market (or just about any other 'investment' I have found).

Enjoy it... they are beautiful knives, and if it were not for the likes of pioneers like Bo Randall... would their be a need for a place like bladeforums??? Or would we all be here debating the merits of Kabar vs. Case?

not to bash busse (which i will never...) but i wish they would use a better coating on their blades... i chip the paint at the tip ot my knife everytime i stab something... i just thought i would put that out there...

I'd tend to agree. What kind of coating is on some of the Ontario RAT line? The smooth coat on my TAK1 is much more resilient than the crinkle coat on my other knives. Anyone know what it is? It doesnt react to paint striper, which would be a really bad thing if it wore away like crinkle coat, but thankfully that isnt the case.

I believe rats are parkarized like military knives.
It doesnt protect from rust that well but it does last longer.
