I've got one but can't decide whether or not to keep it. Anyone actually use this beast for anything other than slicing air? Any reviews on this beast? How is it the hand as a chopper? As a camp knife? I've heard lots of folks say they've bought 'em but no one show pics of them using 'em ;) Anyone? Thanks in advance!

I didn't get one but I'm pretty sure drbarnes has been beating the snot out of his. I'm sure he'll be along shortly.

Yup!

Not a bad chopper. I wear size medium gloves, and the hump provides a few different grips that aid in its use.
The micarta scales much more comfortable to baton with than G-10.

I had one and used it once, I loved the blade shape and grind and the looks but .....The handle felt like it would shoot out of my hand at any moment ,I use a hammer/prybar/shovel every day so I don`t have a girlly grip/hands .I can`t really explain why it felt slippery but I traded it right away and never looked back. It did feel good to hold ,but when I got to swinging it I felt like it was dangerous to me any everyone around. I hope this doesn`t anger anyone but thats how it was for me.

So does the hump make this a "gloves only" chopper or can you go "au naturale" (with your hands that is...I always recommend clothing for more responsible chopping)?

I'm particularly interested in any comparisons with the Rat Mastiff.

Speaking of which...when are we gonna get our Rat Mastiff Chopper????

Interesting thebrain. So do you attribute it to the micarta shaping or the handle design? Were you gloved or gloveless?

I never really wear gloves for chopping it like to feel what is going on . I think it was the handle shape and grooves going lengthwise that did me in. I did think about smoothing the handles but I just decided to find a new love. I really wanted to love that knife :(

Thanks for the directions infocus2006. Saw it. Looks like it will do the job. Curious about thebrain's experiences, though, and if this is a common issue. I really want to like this knife too--just not enough to like it if it's a danger to me and those around me...

I almost pulled the trigger on one but at the last second i changed my mind. It looks awesome but i think i will spend my money on a Custom Shop HOFSH instead. Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

Can't wait to see my card get charged so I can try mine out.

I had one when they first came out and didnt use it. Traded it for a DFLE which is an amazing knife. Snwbrdr202 had a thread about beating on his after some storms came through his area.

WHERES THE PICS!!!?!?!?

I liked the blade shape, balance, and heft of the rodent 9 but the handle just didnt do it for me. I have a satin battle rat, and a differential heat treated battle rat with resc handles that are amazing choppers with great handles. If you get a chance to get your hands on a battle rat I strongly recommend it.
