Our mods close a thread because it is about religion and politics, yet post in the thread about religion and politics....

What are the rules around here, and who do they really apply to?

They closed it before it got ugly. At the point of closure everyone was on the same page, but at some point it would turn I am sure. Right thing to do.

all I wanted to know was where was everybody ? :)

This thread will soon get closed too...just sayin, Jaxx has a tough job to do.....reading a bit helped me understand why.

I was afraid that my post throwing religion into the mix might help kill the thread. But honestly, the thread had nowhere to go but down, and killing it was the right thing to do.

The question I asked was not if it should have been closed, but what are the rules, and who do they apply to?

If the rules are truly "no religion and politics" then closing it makes sense.

But, for the person closing the discussion because of those rules to add in comments on religion and politics makes one wonder...

Please, let this one go. This is only going to resurrect the problems of the other thread. You know who closed it, respect his decision.

Bladeforums rules restrict political discussion to the Political Arena. The Political Arena restricts participation to paid members. We generally also restrict extended religious discussion the same way, but brief religious comments are OK elsewhere.

Whoa...I was cracking a damn joke. That other thread should have been locked long before I locked it. It was open long enough for all to comment politically...and seems everyone did. So, none for me? Even trying a humorish spin? ...Was it the gorilla crack? The praying kitty?? Or the meme about my favorite day???
How about thanking this forum's members for being exceptionally good about staying off politics for the last year & a half when you know everyone had something to say about the whole fricking process and every single candidate?

And lastly... If you want the task of moderating this forum, feel free to speak up to Jerry. I'll step aside in a NY second if this forum demands it. Think carefully though...it's not nearly as much fun as it may appear to be, and I won't be wanting it back once you've taken the position.
