I just read that musical legend Ray Charles just died. I've been listening to his music most of my life, and how can anyone with a heartbeat deny that music is what makes us tick.

So long Ray Charles, ya can't miss him with those shades

:D :D

After SDI, I always thought of Ron as R-a-y-g-u-n.

Ray Charles was a national icon for generations of Americans of all persuasions,

He was a really nice man. I love his music and spirit. I once had the pleasure of having him as a customer when I still worked in retail hifi shops in LA. We had a lot of high profile customers, but he did stand out. He was not pretentious or arrogant like so many stars can be. He was looking for a new set of headphones to use in the studio and I showed him a few different sets. When he settled in a nice, but not top of the line phones (German Beyer Dynamics) he looked up and said,"These sound nice, I think they'll do just fine, and they're sharp lookin' too!" . We both laughted. He was self deprecating and accessible. What a nice man and a sad loss. Thankfully we still have his recordings to listen to.

Last night they showed a bit of video of Ray Charles playing for Ronald Reagan at the White House ! Two fine people.

I am active on another forum that is music oriented and frequented by a number of performers and songwriters. About two months ago, it was posted that someone's father was quite upset when he learned that his close friend, "Ray" was not expected to make it. It was only a matter of weeks. This was placed there just to let us know and to keep Ray in our thoughts. Well, someone from the Enquirer started emailing and phoning folks. It was quite embarrasssing and the person that posted had no intentions of it getting past the website. The next thing I know, the "Globe" (which is owned by the same company as the Enquirer) had a picture of Ray Charles on the front and the caption read, "Ray Charles Dying!" It is now hard to believe that I have even less respect for those rags and the people that work for them.

Rest in peace, Sweet Ray, rest in peace.

Craig
