I recently became an apprentice at an auto shop (Mercedes Canada:D) I've been using my blur at the shop for things like cutting zip ties breaking down cardboard, cutting braided electrical tape, and stabbing the work order when i get frusterated with a job. I don't want to use my blur anymore because i thought it would be better to just get a cheap beater and use it without worry. Sorry if you guys are tired of giving suggestions but what do you think i should get, i only have to requirements: needs to have a lock and should be dirt cheap.

Knucks

Byrd knives or KaBar Doziers. Either is about $20 on line.

If you have a WalMart nearby go and get a Spyderco Native. Typically around US $40.00. Great deal on a great knife. Agree also that Buck is a good deal.

I would recomend the Buck mayo mantis or pilot. They are around $20-$24. They look great and you could be hard on them.

Use the Blur and enjoy it! It was made for everyday stuff!

I would say the same thing. You buy a knife to use it, not to sit at home. That is unless you are collecting. Since you said yourself that you've been using it for work already, than why stop?

the byrd robin in g10 is my work knife. its small, but i use it more than any other blade i have. only costs like $20.

I would keep using the blur but the problem is that i am extremely bored with it and its not the most sheeple friendly knife in the market. I know i specified that the knife should have a lock but do guys think the Douk-Douk would fit the bill?

You like Kershaw so stick with them and get you a Kershaw Vapor or Storm II from Wal Mart.

Any of the Byrd knives.

Maybe one like the Mantis T5

At least the Kershaws are USA made though.
