The only thing I do not like about Busse Blades is the choil. I wish every blade that comes out would have the option of no choil. Aint nothing like pulling your blade out and having it stick on a rib etc... Above and beyond that--no complaints. If the blade is long enough-guess it really does not matter--unless you are super aggressive.

Just a thought
Thanks

Sorry Josh--I hope you do not mind me bringing your thoughts over from another thread--But I agree and am new to the forums.
Thanks.

Keep the choil!

Instead of posting multiple threads, why don't you post a poll?

Not quite sure I'm following you on the sticking on a rib part. If you're stabbing with a Busse on a live target and plunge deep enough to stick the choil on a rib, you'd probably be better off holding onto the handle and stirring up the insides where you're blade is. If you didn't want to hold on and wiggle then just let go and wait it out, whatever it's stuck in doesn't have a whole lot of time left anyways.

When stuck on a rib and 2 twists do not work-- I reallly do not want stick around to see what happens next. Understand. Need to go,------------

Welcome to the forums. Please stick around, read, and learn. There is a great bunch of guys here with a huge wealth of knowledge that they are all willing to share.

Please stop posting multiple threads on the same topic. If you continue to do this, people may start to think of you in a negitive way. Best hope is that you and others ignore that duplicate and it quickly falls off the front page.

Again, welcome to the BF Busse Forum!

I think he's referring to when he pulls the knife out, the choil catches on the rib of the animal that he is cutting up....

On small knives I prefer no choil to maximize blade length. On large knives I prefer the choil because it allows me to choke up on the knife, effectively making it smaller.

Sounds like what pekit needs is a guard. Get a knife with a guard. The Battleguard is it from Swamprat or go custom at the Busse shop and they can do i I am sure.

I did not know I was so vague. Schuey got it. When going in deep and you need quick escape--seconds count!

what animal is it that is so thin skinned that you can stick one up to the choil in??

I can guaranty that any big game you stab with a non dagger style knife will have grissle, bone and thick hide that will not allow a blade to go that deep. If you're talking humans (not likely t ever be used in such in real life) then you are in need of a more tactical blade with a guard of some kind and a very pointy blade.

I vote for the No Choil Option.
I'd even pay an extra $10.00 for no choil.:)

Never have liked them, I like the cutting edge right up near the handle.

More pointy and a guard--great--Dagger even better--Hmmm(Great input) Just trying to get started here. Most Busses have a pretty good built in guard--Have not sliced my fingers off yet. And the point is just a matter of preference.--------------Looks like the beginning of an anniversary blade--what do ya"ll think.

Just trying to have fun with a thread and a thought.

Thanks

Don't mistake good design characteristics for a guard. I agree that most of Jerry's designs protect the user, but the talon hole does not a guard make. The closest that comes to a guard is the BARF (or the AA).

My Busses (minus the NICK Variant). Nary a guard to be seen:

There was a minor tempest here last year when a certain maker wandered in and started deriding the design of the SFNO. Rather than link to a closed thread, I'll just quote him:

Don't Know. They all look alike to me.. Over sized entry level guardless drop point hunter. Don't mean to flame' Or be rude. But whats all the busse. Looks line a cheap hunting knife, not even remotley desighned correctly as a combat blade. Is adversing Hype really that effective?

To be honest, I would dearly LOVE to see a chute knife come out of Wauseon. Maybe an integral style, like those by Kressler. That would make a n excellent knife, but hardly representative enough to be used as the Anniversary special.

Please do not take what I said that the build is a guard---I just said the way the blade is built acts like a guard. The mound of metal at the talon hole does help to prevent the hand from moving forward in a violent nature.

Thanks

Rick,

I agree that a chute knife would be awsome.
You mention Kressler but have you checked out Velarde.
