Is there a thread on batons?

Did research back in the day and from what I've found (scarce) it is still not illegal to own a collapsible baton in Canada (own, not use).
Yet, they are hard to find and stores that do carry "legitimate" one (like ASP) won't sell to you unless you're LE. Is there some legality issue with that? Refusing sale of an item that is not illegal to purchase or something? Refusing legal tender? Lol - I don't know.
Not looking to start a war here or possibly get those "why do you need"ers going... why do you need a japanese katana sword, why do you need an AR and 'x' amount of ammo? Because they're cool, and/or fun to shoot or fondle - same reasons apply.

warriors and wonders sells a cheapo brand and ships to US and CAN. They mentioned recently a store in BC that carries ASP but they think only sells to LE with ID. That's BS to me.

Check your local gun store; I know the one in Windsor will order them in (they don't carry them in stock because most people want the cheapo ones).

There were a few Canadian online stores that'll do it, but prices are a tad high. If you don't mind paying a bit more, keep looking and you'll find them.
They aren't Bladeforums dealers, so I can't list them...but keep Googling "Canadian Security Supply Stores" or "ASP for sale Canada" and you should get there.

There is this one, misplaced in a sword discussion group. For legal issues, I would think the appropriate subforum here might be the place to debate it.

I'm not sure there was any reason for your post. Other than to point out the already obvious; that I couldn't find a specific forum/thread to discuss "batons" so I put it somewhere I thought it might "fit" to ask where I might look.
I had done a search and found a thread on blade forums discussing an asp baton but couldn't remember/find where or what forum it was in.
If you know of a subforum why not mention it in your "nonswer"?

I do appologize for posting in the sword forum though. I know that's annoying :/
I'll keep the discussion here to blades in the future.

I guess I thought - sword and baton are long .."utensils" hah.

Certainly is interesting the way that people think, especially considering that you can find "batons" just about anywhere. A length of pipe, or a stick, or some rebar, etc, and you've got yourself a baton. It's a simple and effective weapon. I suspect that part of the fear comes from the concealability factor, along with other things that I can't talk about due to their political nature.

I believe I did suggest another subforum, as the crux if you initial post appears to be largely concerning legalities.
