I was working out in the shop on some throwing axes and went to put the rags from the BLO in a water bucket. I decided to go trim some more lower leaves off my giant caladiums - AKA Elephant Ear Plants. I have been cutting the lower leaves away because the huge upper ones shade them. As I started to trim, I saw something people rarely see ... Elephant Ear Flowers. They are rather rare. It turns out that trimming the plants at the right time can make them bloom. I have several dozen budding and even though each flower will last only a few days, there should be flowers for a couple weeks. The flowers are 12-18" long and bright banana yellow. They are in full sun along the creek by the shop. Some plants are 7-feet tall with 4-foot leaves that look like Zulu shields.
