I searched a little bit and didnt find a thread with this specific topic in mind, so if there was a thread i didnt see, sorry
.
My question is what the title is, was there a time you really needed/wished you had a knife? If so, how important was that situation?
I was in a situation that resulted in me wishing/needing a knife on St. Patricks day in 2010. In a nutshell my dad was taking my sisters and me to san francisco to enjoy the day, i believe also see the parade (not 100% on that.) well on the way there a car had flipped 5 times and was on fire; traffic stopped about 100 feet away from the car on fire. Seeing no-one helping the guy that was burning alive in the car, me and my dad hopped out to help the guy. I handed my dad a wrench to break the passanger window because the driver side was engulfed in flames. Once my dad broke through, he climbed in the car. (Its weird the fire wasnt hot at all as we were near it.) the drivier was in shock trying to get out my shaking back and forward but his seat belt was on. It took my dad about 3-7 seconds to get the seat belt off by pressing the release. (My father is disabled having only 1 hand.) i helped pull both my dad and the drive out of the car, the driver was still on fire. Once out of the car within 5 seconds the care fully engulfed in flames. SF fire arrived within 5 mins, as well as EMS. He was rushed to surgery and would be a few months before the doctors would awaken him from his drug enduced coma. We later found out that the driver was a reserve airman, and that the driver made a recovery as best that could have resulted, he did lose an arm and an ear. A large percentage of his body was burned. The point being it eats at the back of my mind that had i had a knife he may have gotten burned less. Even though i was into flea market knives back them, the serrated portion may have helped my dad get him out quicker. Since that day i carried a knife with me everyday.
So i am just curious if anyone to has really needed a knife, in any type of situation. I cant wait to see BFC's responses.
