Sorta off topic but...(a knife)

This is a little knife done by Jerry Brumagen that I'm posting with permission from the owner.

The pics aren't the best, but you can get a good look at the welding pattern and the microcrystalline transition zone (flerf).

I'm not sure what the materials involved are for the handle, though for the blade I wouldn't be surprised if it were very high carbon steel welded with iron or wrought iron.

Looks very nice. I just got a call from Jerry about a sword that I had ordered from him. I hope it is not ready becaue I am going on vacation and will not be able to get it until I return

. I know that it sounds strange to wish that a piece is not ready but it will kill me to know that a it is ready and that I can't get it yet.
