...I see more discussion of BladeTech knives here it seems, that in other parts of BF.

Can anyone tell me what is the difference between a BladeTech Pro Hunter Magnum and a Pro Hunter Magnum Extreme?

$72 is the only difference as far as I can tell from the specs listed on the bladetech website......, I've seen good reviews on them but dang!! those things are pricey!

I sure can't tell from the descriptions or pictures.

I emailed BladeTech, maybe they will explain????

Well, for what's it's worth, here is the response I got from BladeTech this morning.

"The difference will be with the DLC tungsten (black) coating that is on the blade and internal parts, hardware etc...

I want one of those BladeTech ulu convertable thingies. I've played with them a couple of times and I don't know why I don't own one.

Because you don't hunt elk.:D

Sure I do... Elg pigs are very common in GA.

I need one for cutting up all of my whale meat too.

I'm with Dylside, I could use it to cut up some of these Orcas that frequent our creeks here in Alabama. I know they're protected and it's not PC to do so, but they taste pretty good, and one pod will feed a family for quite a while.

Do you want to set your drag low or high if your to hook a whale?

I figure I should let it run a bit, but I could muscle it in if I needed to.

What pound test line should I be looking for? 35 ton?

If you're fishing from one of those kayaks you own then you really don't have to set the drag too high :D

I prefer cable. You want to set the drag about 50%. They have a tendancy to yank every once in a while and when they do, they'll turn the whole damn dingy over.
