Thursday at dark:30 we're heading out to Southern Illinois. We will take I-75 N orth to I-10 West
to 231 & up to I-65. Then we hit I-24 on to Hopkinsville Ky. Next on the Pennyrile into Henderson,Evansville Ind. & West to Mt. Carmel [Mayberry ] Illinois .

We are hoping some forumites live along the way & give us cheaper gas areas. I filled our travel vehicle,a Yukon,with $2.49 a few days ago.Good move 'cause it's 15-20 cents higher today. My Youkon gets 20+ a wee bit mpg & I'd rather pay a tad more & have more steel around us.

Hoping for "Happy trails ".

Perhaps you can gauge where you'll be needing to fill up, and can get the best prices available. You can input the areas you'll be travelling through for prices specific to those areas.

Will need gas in lower Alabama & again in Hopkinsville Ky. Will top off in Henderson Ky.

I don't know where the lowest-gas prices are, but just wanted to say "Have A Safe Trip!"

I'm planning a Fall trip to Eldorado/Harrisburg, Ill. to visit family. I'll be taking the motorcycle though, at 45 - 50 mpg. Heck, even if I drove the Lincoln, she gets 30-32 traveling cross-country.

Maybe you should buy one of these:

Honda Silverwing. 55MPG, and plenty of storage space.

I'm in Knoxville. The cheapest gas around here is $2.19 just across the Knox/Blount county line at the Pilot on Topside off of Pellissippi Parkway (about 15 minutes out of your way). If you've got a Kroger card the Kroger on Northshore off of Pellissippi is running $2.34.

Gas prices will drop as soon as you cross into KY.

While I can't help you with the cheaper gas stations, I can offer some advice. Drive the speed limit on this trip. I know this route, and you will be encountering a lot of troopers along the way. They like to hide in the trees, and are quite sneaky.
