The Injury in the Wild thread has prompted me to mention the Eternalight LED flashlights that contain a microchip so that the light can be programed to perform several functions, including flashing a continuous SOS signal.
Aside from it's usefulness if you are injured and alone in the wilderness, think how nice it would have been for someone in Katrina when the helicopters were looking for people to rescue off rooftops.
