You mentioned you had multi tools?

Primary EDC changes, but I almost always have a SAK as a secondary…so I’d say get yourself a nice SAK if you don’t already have one

I have tries them and I have a leatherman in my bag car and coat I haven't found the right sak yet I will have bought and traded my fair share

Where to go?
Make a new year’s resolution to enjoy, carry, and use what you already have.

The times I have the fortitude to follow that advice are the times I seem to enjoy the hobby/obsession/neurosis the most.

I’m going to try following that advice again this year. I did pretty good in that regard last year…most (but not all) of what I purchased was for gifting.

You are obviously more of a collector than user.
Keep a few Spyderco and CRK and sell the rest.
You can collect "sets" nicely, but not just spurious some of everything.
I have "been there" and glad it's over. It got tiresome, and a rather useless endeavor.

I have been in a knife drought for the last few months as I have had needed to pay some bills and was even forced to sell a few of them! Finally found some better work, so I hope to be able to buy some good ones.

But, I know I am a user and a collector. I do carry my Ironwood Dodo, I also store it in glass. Having a pocketknife, backup knife, and SAK is gonna solve all your problems.

What do I want going forward in 2023? Oh, man...
I want the Spyderco Military 2, hopefully get in on a few David Mary sales, get a Spikedeisel SpyderSAK and some other special SAKs.
Fixed blades.

I wanna narrow down what I need and like most, and what I enjoy so much I wanna keep as a collector's piece.

I like to think I'm a hybrid user/ collector I carry all my knives and I enjoy owning them as well when you rotate so many they tend to look nice over a long time and the ones I know I'll keep forever are my 3 crk, 940, bailout, bugout, mg ad20, and william henry

I recently ran across this old film print of a picture I took of the SOTC in about 1983 or so. This is just some of the fixed blades I had at that time but it did not include diving knives, which I had a fair amount of as well. I know I also had a Gerber Mark I and a couple of others, so for whatever reason I just took a picture of these. At any rate I thought some of you might recognize a few of the pieces shown here for nostalgia. I think I only have two of these knives still in my collection, I wish I still had them all.

I still have my Timba in the box and a Fer de Lance. Wish I could find a Timba w/o the saw teeth, to finish out the trio.

Love the Mamba!

Here is the picture with the makes and/or names of these knives. The only two that I still have are the two upper customs by Enedino Deleon, toward the middle of the picture. I lived in Ft. Worth back then and saw Mr. DeLeon at gun shows all the time. I drew a picture of the Fighter with the double brass fingerguard and he made it for me. He used to take the cutoff pieces of steel and make those little daggers from them and he always had a few of them at the shows.
