Well, I picked up a Fiddleback Woodsman from Andy at Blade, I have been so busy since that I have only had it out in the woods a couple of times, but I have put it to use in the kitchen now to see just how well it handles. Not hard to see why Steelyguns says his Woodsman is his favorite food prep knife. I put it to work making a pot of vegetable soup, so thought I'd post some pics.

Started with mostly fresh vegetables.

Nice vine ripened tomatoes!

Sweet corn

Baby Portabellos, you ca see what little patina had developed so far before now.

Some fresh parsley root. The Woodsman did great! No pieces skittering across the room.

A few fresh-dug potatoes

Some fresh picked green beans

Some purple onion

Some grilled sweet banana pepper

So, that gets the vegetables going

Now a nice hunk of sirloin needs slicing and dicing :) Damn I love how this knife handles!

Yep, soups on, now for a nice skillet of buttermilk cornbread to go with it :)

Man I love your threads Mist. That soup looks great. Do you scrape down the cobb to get the creamy juicy ends of the kernel? My grandmother used to sit on the couch and cut corn off the cobb in the evenings. She'd slice off the kernels, then scrape the rest out of the cobb.

Now I am starving and really desiring a Woodsman!

Lol, some people say some of my threads have that affect on people lol. The Woodsman is damned sweet, handles very well!

Thanks Andy, turned out pretty good. I do that when I am just cooking the corn of course, makes it much better, but not so much when I am making soup.

Oh, and I'm editing in the final three photos to the thread :)

Thanks for the pics and the thread mist, always a pleasure to read. You make a stew like I do, ha! I love to cook and don't use recipes, I know what I like and what tastes good to me and just throw things together. This one is like one I make +/- some things (I use grown vegies whenever possible when I can, don't we all). Love the tomato you have there! Looks quite 'healthy'!I'm hungry now! Love the knife too. You should not post anymore thoughts or pics because it's gonna make me hunt down a woodsman! ;)

Thanks Hugh. But dude, if you really like to cook, then there is a good chance you NEED a Woodsman ;)

*resists pressure and temptation*

We need a support group for these sort of things......

In all seriousness, I think I need a Woodsman as well. ;)

Great knife. Excellent photos. Looks like a damn fine supper too. Its always a pleasure to see your latest travels and creations, thanks for that!

good stuff Mist. thanks (as usual) for all the pics and commentary.

Lol, it can get rough here at times. I couldn't count how many times I've said "hmmm, what could I sell quickly?" on Fridays.

Yes, in all seriousness, the Woodsman is an awesome food prep knife. I love that this one matches my Bushboot and they make a great team, but I sure wouldn't mind a stainless and G10 version to just leave in my kitchen :)

What a great post; can't decide if I love the photos/food or the knife more!

Thank you. Eh, the food is just simple country cooking, the knife on the other hand is another of Andy's extraordinary works of functional art!

Yes, the Woodsman is really sweet! Thank you, I'm glad you enjoy the posts!

Thanks man, glad you liked it.

Did someone say support group?

The Woodsman transitions very well from indoor life to outdoor life,

Do you guys think we could get group buys on knives?

No wait, that's not helping!

Yes it does! Hey...hold up a minute. I thought I was the one doing the transitioning here, it is a "Woodsman" after all. Saaaaaay, are you trying to steal my thunder?! LMAO, I think I have officially been up too long after too little sleep lol. Besides that, we already have a support group, it meets here every Friday around lunch time ;)

No "Theft of Thunder" intended. More like thunder amplification, I'm a Viking, we take our thunder and theft thereof very seriously.

I see your point on the Woodsman, outdoor, transition thing,

But if Andy had called it the "Dicer" who knows.

The Recluse, might have been the "Howard Huges"

The Kephart the "Horace"

The Terrasaur the "Flowers"

Andy is a smart man, his names work much better than mine.

Now back to your regulary scheduled Woodsman Thread.

LOL! I hope to get it out in the woods tomorrow!
