I have recently seen some blades with baked on bluing? I think it is also called nitrate bluing? It is not hot bluing. From what I know you spray it on and bake it and you get some great colors. Anyone know where I can obtain some? Brownell's?
Thanks,
Chuck

Chuck,
I believe that you may be referring to is baking lacquer. Brownell's carries it.

Nitre bluing, if this is what you mean, is in itself a hot-bluing technique that gives fire-bluing colors. You actually melt the salts instead of dissolving them them in water, between 570-650F, and temp choice helps determine color.
Can't seem to find the stuff you're referring to, and am anxious to find out what it actually is.
