Im a big fan of the 4.1 and my old spec Survive is great with its canvas handle slabs but Id like to have a set of smooth bone linen (which Ive seen on Survive knives), ivory micarta or really anything resembling ivory without being the genuine (Cites) deal.

Might anybody know of a source or maker of such a set of handle slabs for the 4.1?

TIA

I'd be on board for a set of 4 dot 1 Ivory scales too...Sweet!

I liked that Bone handle scales on your 4.7 which you sold. Hopefully my buddy got it but I noticed that a lot of drama was piling up! That was a gorgeous set up though!

Ive been tempted by a set of bone linen or ivory micarta slabs for a while now, but it was your recent sales ad, which pushed me over the edge. A gorgeous knife which sadly eluded me.

Congrats.
Sadly, spare bone linen slabs for old spec 4.1s doesnt seem to be an option from Survive hence my post. Other colors, yes, bone linen, no.

Ok what about having a set made for you?

The material would be something you could source yourself To make 100% sure it's te right colour and everything.

Most certainly an option, as I mentioned in the OP.

As you state, one has more control over the process that way and one can specify exactly, how the handle slabs should look.

I see some companies - custom, semi-custom and production (Fiddleback, BRK etc etc) work both bone linen and ivory micarta but dont see a lot of custom handle makers/knife makers talking about or offering the stuff. Maybe its just not that popular....

Oh I'm sorry I misread you.

We do have a member here making custom scales from wood. I'm not sure he is ready for acrylic or micarta yet, but it doesn't hurt to ask:

His name is TRfromMT click here.

As for a source, there are tons of them.

I don't think we can do links, but Knife Kits has always had a wide selection, there are others if you google as well. TR can steer you to good ones as well. Just try to find pics of the actual piece you will get, or email to get one.

Thanks for the shout out Justin.

BladeScout, email me if I can help. Stabilized maple looks a lot like bone, and I do those.

Nothing to be sorry about:)
Im grateful for any input, thx:thumbup:

I realize there are kits/materials to be bought out there (have bought from Jantz etc etc) but am hoping for a maker who has all materials and will make the slabs.

The maple slabs you mention is a pretty good option.
Thanks again.

No. It shouldn't discolor at all. Most woods that discolor do so because the natural oils oxidize or because they react to sunlight. Stabilizing and oiling fix the color.
