Anyone know where to get some brass stock? I'm gonna try to make new handles for a balisong out of brass. Then, if it comes out OK, I'm going to try colorizing it.

The blade will have to come later, working steel is much harder than brass.

you can sometimes buy brass stock at the local hardware store, or hobby shop. also the junkyard can be a good place also if you have the patience. a pretty easy safe bet though would to get blade or knives illustrated, and look through the knife parts ads.

How thick do you need stu I got loads of it...

Drop this guy a e-mail and see if he has something on hand you can use, He has always got a pretty good selection of brass, bronze, aluminum, ect. drops and bar stock on hand. He's on ebay all the time, but will take direct orders if he has it, and is much cheaper than metal dealers most of the time. Super nice guy too. Email kensimp@hotmail.com

I picked up some brass for $1/lb at a local metal recycler. You might have to dig through a lot of brass to get the approximate sizes and shapes to work with, but the price is pretty good.
