Silverman's LTD carries the British Jungle Survival Knife, #35025, for the same price as the Ka-Bar. Silvermans LTD 2 Harford Street Mile End London E1 4PS Phone 0171 7 900 900. I have seen it for sale by a couple of dealers on the web but I don't remember who. Regards, Clayton

the last catalog i recieved from atlanta Cutlery had it, but like EB said, it's not on their website. i'd like to handle one since it seemed to be a decent size for the price.

I have the British MOD survival from Atlanta Cutlery. I purchased it several years back and it has been one of the biggest disappointments of my knife buying history. For my personal tastes it is too thick, has a terrible edge geometry, and is too thick to hold comfortably with my medium sized hands. It is too short and too thick, making it extremely heavy and ackward for me to use.

One the plus side it is built like a Sherman tank and should be damn near impossible to damage.

Just my personal opinions.

MichLee- Thanks. I appreciate the input.

I am thinking of getting one if I can find one dirt cheap.

Other than that, I do not believe it would be worth it.

Marion;
What do you feel that the Mod 4 will do that the BK&T Companion can't do? I know you are fond of the BK&T's so why not stick with them and get the Companion...I have one and its a lot of knife for the $$$ just like the other BKT's.
Just ordered the Machax too.

The MOD Survival knife is one of my pet hates. Its not a brick **** house but a cast iron one. Thick enough to put into tanks spokes! Dull to the point of neglect. Heavy that it could sink a battleship.

I used to hate my soldiers carrying them. One, I wished they had not bought them out of their own well earned cash. Two, knowing there were so many better knives out there better suited to the job. Three, because they had enough kit to carry. One in every ten would have an edge, and that is because the owner had spent some time with REME.

Early ones were less thick and so little less bad.

Don't spend too much on the MOD. Ka-Bars are better, if less tough. CS FRK's are up to the job. My favourate high end is the CR Project I. For soldiering a seven inch robust utility is worth carrying but don't let the weight get out of control.
