Source for F-18 Carbon Fiber?

Anybody have a source for F-18 CF?I bought some a year ago,But I've lost contact with that source.Looking for 1/8"&1/4 thick material,Any help would be appreciated.Thanks,Rick. :D
 
The guy who was hooking everybody up that I know of can't get it anymore. :( If I had enough to share, I would, but sorry! If you find a new source hook us up! :)
 
The F-18 stuff has a real coarse weave, and it looks pretty cool. Here is a knife I just sold that uses it...

Nope. Still waiting for the knife I want to use it on. I'm still thinking a tanto with handle wrap over the CF, but I don't have the blade finished (or started) nor do I have my handle wrapping material yet! Besides, I'm not looking forward to grinding it way down like you said I'd have to, since the middle is all unidirectional. That's going to take forever and be a mess! :D
I'll post pics when it gets done, though. Couple weeks, probably.
 
Yeah Gordon cant get that stuff anymore.. I bought about all he had a while back.. BUT if you contact MDtactical.com they have some stuff that is REAL nice.. I hooked them up with it, the stuff comes off F-22 remnants, and is 3/8" thick, and comes in 5"x8" panels.. The stuff looks great, and has a bit tighter weave than the F-18 stuff. :cool:

Thanks for the heads-up! I'll check it out. I bought a bunch from Gordon about 6-8 months ago, right after he found out he wasn;t going to be able to get it. Only thing I don't like about it is the weave is so coarse that you have to take the scales down pretty thin to get the sort of abstract patterning like in the picture I showed. At 1/8" starting thickness that gets pretty thin for some handles. It looks great, though, which is the important thing! :D
 
would you guys like me to drop an email to a friend of mine in the boatbuilding industry? they use Carbon Fiber for their masts and I might be able to get some discards from him.... no idea what sizes or thicknesses they would be, let alone grain or looks....
might be worth asking tho, after all, whats the worst he might say? "nope", while the best might be a supply of freeish useful bits :P
