Source for genuine G.I. Nyco Twill Boonie hat?

Does anyone know of a source for a genuine U.S. military issue Nylon/cotton (NYCO) twill boonie hat? I have searched extensively on the web and all locations offer the commercial equivalents made of poly/cotton or 100% ripstop but none are the true issue. I even contacted a military manufacturer directly (Propper Industries) and they said the D.O.D. did not allow them to sell any of the G.I. issue on the civilian market.

Does anyone know if the genuine issue boonie hats are available for purchase by a military person at their base PX? Any leads would be appreciated.
Thanks.

You may want to take a look at Brigade Quartermasters' boonie hat offerings. (I tried including a direct link to the product page but it's not working.) Materials vary by color but they are Mil-Spec & one of the desert camo patterns is NyCo twill. Good luck.

Brian,
I tried them already along with USCav and many others but I have found out that although all sell
"Milspec" hats, they are all still commercial equivalents constructed to similar specifications except for the material, not the actual military issue material. I still can't figure out why the Department of Defense doesn't want the actual issue hats being sold on the civilian market.

Thanks for the response. By the way I am trying to find a woodland camo boonie hat in XL nyco twill.

I would be more than happy to pay a serviceman for a new genuine hat if they were available in a PX for purchase. Unfortunately I don't know anyone in the military at this time.

http://www.rangerjoes.com

has NYCO boonie hats...look in the "hats" category of their online catalog

P.S. I just noticed your location - do you have to have NYCO as a departmental requirement? The cotton ones are cooler in hot climes...

Occams Razor,
Thank you for the lead on the web site. That is
exactly the type of material and hat I was looking for.

It is not an issue requirement with me, just a "want" on my part. That particular web site I had not run across and it appears to have a much bigger selection of goods than many others of the same type. Thanks again.
