I'm just looking for the best place to get regular grinding discs for my angle grinder. I had a serious supply that lasted me about 4 years...sad to say it finally ran out. The good Nortons at Home Depot are a bit high priced, I thought. I tried some of the Harbor Freight discs and the disintegrated on me. One wheel split and hit me in the throat, cheek and forehead at the same time (three different peices). Scared the crap out of me, thank goodness I'm already ugly. I need good discs at a good price, any advice?
Thanks,
J.

I hate to keep bringing this up but have you tried Ebay?
Sometimes you can find high end government surplus stuff on there dirt cheap.
Just takes a little time and research.

J, It sounds like the extra money for the Norton's might just be worth it. I haven't bought disks for my 7" angle grinder in years but seems like I was paying 4 to 5 bucks each 10 years ago. Glad you didn't get hurt!

Never mind

I think Eastwood has a deal where you buy 100 or so discs (DeWalt) and they throw in a free angle grinder (Dewalt).

Edit: Damn, maybe not eastwood... I remember I saw it in one of the catalogues I get...

J, Didja try Gary Pierce in Punxy?
Another source, are there any Trader Horn's out in that country? bruce

You know Michael, I look on Ebay for alot of things but, it always takes me a bit to realize...oh yeah, I should check ebay for that. Good tip.

Thanks guys, I'll check those and keep using the Nortons for grinding discs until something materializes. I'm sure there's something like that place carbide.com where I get my bandsaw blades around.

Lord Farquhar, it's good to see you on this side of the computer ocean. Welcome to Bladeforums!

hey J. give me the specs i have that old supply house near me, i might be able to get you a whole bunch for dirt cheap. i know he has some 9" right now for 50 cents each, and he has a bunch to choose from. let me know and i'll call asap.

Thanks Mike, that would be very nice of you. I'm just looking for the standard 4 1/4-4 1/2" discs for my angle grinder. I need something to grind billets without taking my face off.

:) If you have a local welding supply you might try them. If buying in bulk they will sometimes give a good price cut.
