Source for horn handle material

Hi guys, I'm hoping you can help me out a little. I have a kukri with an uncomfortable handle and an almost perfect blade, so I'd like to rehandle it. I have a pretty good idea of how to do it, (famous last words, I know) but I need to know where I can find some horn to work with. Whether its from a water buffalo or a cow isn't too awfully important to me, just so long as its tough. Also, if anyone here has a lot of experience working with horn or kukris, I would apprciate any pointers. I have a few books on knifemaking, so I do have a general idea of what to expect, but the fewer surprises the better! TIA everyone.

Jantz Supply's item number for buffalo horn is IS904, costs $6.95. I would recommend using corby bolts because buffalo horn is real easy to split when peening pins. The corbys are item number CP600 $1.35 each for brass, CP620 $1.50 for stainless, and CP610 $1.35 for nickel silver. I would recommend using three of them and some epoxy or dap weld wood contact cement. Devcon epoxy is item # DVE5 $2.99. Jantz's number is 18003518900. They usually get me an order in 3-5 days and have flat rate shipping of $6.95. Take care! Michael

Always think of your fellow knife makers as partners in the search for the perfect blade, not as people trying to compete with you and your work!

Follow L6's advice, he's right. If you need bigger pieces than scale size, give me a shout. I have a big ol' chunk in the shop, almost a full horn.
