Source for knife making?

I want to try my hand at knife making, what are the basics that i need to get to start this project off.

So far i have been looking at Koval Knives, is this a good sorce price and quality wise?

(ps first one will be a small fixed blade kneck knife, what sort of steel should i start out with, i was considering 440c)

Good choices both ways, you may find more variety at larger suppliers but a simple knife would be a good starting place. The assembly and handle finishing is the most difficult part of knifemaking anyhow. You can learn a lot from making up kits.
