Source for Knife Values

I am getting ready to sell a large portion of my knife collection. I am unsure of the value of several of the knives and am looking for a source of appraisal. If anyone has a recommendation of a person or site that could help, I would appreciate it.

I have looked through the Sale forums for the last several months, but have not found comparable knives.

Thanks

Hi,

You can contact the maker directly. They will be able to give you a current value of the knife. They may or may not be able to advise you of a realistic price in the aftermarket.

Another method is to contact a reputable dealer. Their focus will be on what you can "realisticly" expect to get for a knife. If it is a big collection, expect to pay for their "expertise". Another benefit of working with a dealer is that they may buy the collection outright.

There is always Bernie Levine, he runs an appraisal business. There will be a cost, I thnk, but I also think he's reasonable, if you want to consider that route. His address is near the bottom of the front page, along with his email link: http://www.knife-expert.com/

If they are custom knives, there are several here (dealers) and makers and collectors who may be able tell you, by name, where the best source would be to go. Daniel O'Malley at Bladegallery.com might be a good start. Or some of the other big knife web dealers might offer a hand on current market values. (Nordicknives.com, Knifeart.com, Bladeart.com, Rehobothcustomknives.com, there are many many more to pick from......)
