Source of coarse belts for Work Sharp Ken Onion Edition?

Hello all,
I'd like to find a source of coarse belts to do most of the work (reprofiling) with the WSKTS-KO. I am interested in 120 grit or so in aluminum oxide or silicon carbide. I'll do most of the finishing with the paper wheels, so I don't need fine belts. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave

Have you checked the manufacturers website or called them? They seem to sell abrasive belts there. That would be my first stop.

The P120 that comes with it is close to what you are asking for. You can get more from Darex (the manufacturer of the WSKO). They also have some other choices that are good. The X100 and X200 are great especially the stiff versions. I use the X200 for almost all my reprofiling. I also have their 60 grit and 80 grit ceramic belts. The 60 is another level of coarseness and eats steel pretty quickly. I use it for extreme cases. You can get all of these from the web site or by calling them to place an order.

I guess I was hoping for cheap belts. Darex's belts are pretty expensive. $3+ for a small A/O belt seems high, esp. for the relatively short lifespan.

Check with micro mesh. They have a wide array of belts for cheap. However, you have to order several to make it worth your while becasue they have a flat shipping charge.

I've done something like 80 blades on the stock belts and another 50 to 60 on the stiff precision belts. Plus a little work on the 60 grit ceramic. There is minimal wear on the high grit belts and *some* wear on the lower grits. I use a belt cleaner often and it seems to work. I expect to get at least another 100 blades done with my current setup. Probably more.

I bought mine at harbor freight, though they are available from many sources. They all look like a giant version of an eraser you might use in art class. The kind that are almost clear with a light tan color to them. The standard size is so big that it is practically a lifetime supply if I only use it on the WSKO. I've had it for around 10 or 12 months and I've used maybe 10% of it. Maybe.

Those "erasers" work pretty well. I have a wood handled one about that size from the local hardware store. I've used it on my HF 1x30 and WSKO.
