sources for exotc skins?

Those skins are for those wearing them!! Seriously, the skins you mentioned, do not hold up.

I intend to apply them over a formed leather sheath, probably courbouli. My othe thought is to apply them to a kydex sheath, but I worry about the kydex rubbing the mokume game.
If I go kydex I'll have to line it, something I've never done before.

It might be nice to do a wooden scabbard from snakewood. That would be easy enough to do. I could route a cuoup out at the top and put in a safety pin using the front talon hole.

I use these guys http://ostrichmarket.com/.They are just around the corner from my shop and have a huge selection. They are distributors for many of the dealers the sell at shows. Now you may have some trouble locating a specific species like Poison Frog, you can get certain species of frog and many are beautiful, but like other things, your limited to what is availible.I have never seen salamander but several species of lizard are availible.Dave:)

I'm not sure where you got your info, but its not all that accurate. If you treat and protect these exotics correctly they will hold up just fine. The more delecate leathers are almost always framed with a nice thick leather to keep them from getting scuffed.

Cane toad has become a rather popular inlay among sheath and holster makers of the highest caliber so I'd wager they have done their homework.

You would think that leathers such as eel would be prone to scuffing, but its tough stuff.

This is not a shot at you specifically Lycosa, but I do hate to see mis information spread about. I didnt even know you made sheaths! How long have you been doing them? :)

You will need to consider the cost, Ilike ostrich it's pretty tough & easy to get in a variety of colours & it's at the cheaper end od the spectrum:D
A lot of exotics are very tough compared to weight thickness ratio. I guess most consider kangaroo an exotic it's lightweight but very tough makes great lacing.
