I'm getting an interest in traditional French folders. For those of us living in the US, where do you order them?

Sent you a PM since we’re not supposed to list non paying dealers here.

Thanks. If the dealer is not a paid BladeForums Dealer please don't post their name or web link. You can forward any recommendations via conversation or profile message.
I've sent one your way Dennis ( shootist16 shootist16 ).

Some of the companies sell direct to customers. Shipping isn't cheap, but usually not too terrible, and you should be exempt from the value-added taxes (make sure to ask about that). The companies I have in mind do a lot of semi-custom or, at least, made-to-order knives, so buying direct might be the best option since you can discuss with them exactly what you want.

It's not clear to me whether I can mention these manufacturers that sell their wares directly or if that runs afoul of the non-paid dealers rule. Better safe than sorry and all, so shoot me a PM if you would like some more information. I am pretty sure Peregrin sent one of them already (based on his posts)!

Which knives are you interested in anyway? I think most people know about the Laguiole, but my favorites are the Le Thiers, especially the ones made by Chambriard, and Nontron knives. Nontron’s are similar to the Opinel, but pre date them significantly.

A Le Thiers in juniper wood... it has a really nice peppery smell to it.

Never had seen a checkerboard knife before this... BTW, the boule model doesn’t appear that it would be comfortable in hand but it is.

The Juniper wood handled, slender bladed slip joint is to me the classic fancy French knife. And the Bee (fly).!
